VIRO was commissioned by U-Boat Worx to perform various strength calculations for the approval of the 1- and 3-person C-Quester. Engineering Analysis performed the linear and nonlinear buckling calculations for this mini-submarine to demonstrate the maximum diving depth of 240 metres. The finite element calculations show the structural integrity of the dome protection in accordance with the Germanischer Lloyd standard. These calculations are also called FEM/FEA calculations.
In order to be able to supply the required data, the points of departure were determined in consultation with the NoBo (notified body). This collaboration was necessary to establish the correct requirements, because they had previously not yet been adequate for a mini-submarine. As a result of this work the C-Quester was approved very quickly!
