FEM calculations for valve

Engineering Analysis was asked by Delta Controls to perform various FEM calculations on the Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) of the slide valve. The FEM simulations included conducting flow analyses, thermal analyses, and the corresponding strength analyses. These flow analyses are also known as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses.

CFD analyses of valve

CFD analyses were performed to calculate the temperature, pressure distribution, and flow in the slide valve. The resulting temperature and pressure were entered into the structural FEM model as a thermal load and pressure load respectively. The tensions and amount of creep were determined by performing a transient non-linear FEM analysis. The results were assessed in accordance with the ASME VIII-2 standard and the report was subsequently approved by the Notified Body (NoBo).
