Kooiman Apparatenbouw specialises in the high-quality manufacturing and engineering of process equipment. This includes shell and tube heat-exchangers and pressure vessels for the oil and gas industry. Engineering Analysis was asked by Kooiman to perform a variety of finite element (FEM) analyses. These FEM analyses provide an accurate image of the structural rigidity and strength of a construction.
The Engineering Analysis department performed various strength calculations on the pressure vessel. The vessel has a 4m diameter and a 30 tonne mass and was assessed in accordance with the ASME VIII div. 2 standard for fatigue with respect to operational load (pressure variation). The results showed that the pressure vessel complied with the set standards. All the findings were incorporated in a report and the pressure vessel was subsequently put into production.
