Qlyte Subcoal Plant Delfzijl

Secondary fuels manufacturer Qlyte commissioned VIRO to design a brand-new sustainable plant for the processing of a wide variety of materials, ranging from waste products from the paper industry to secondary fuels. VIRO’s activities included the conceptual, basic and detailed engineering for the construction of the plant, which was to be built on “de groene wei” (the green meadow). Further activities included developing the production process on the basis of the subcoal technology in collaboration with the client.

Qlyte activities

VIRO also performed the project management and the engineering for the entire site layout, the offices and the production and storage facilities, from design through to construction. This involved assisting the client with requests for tender, drawing up the STABU specifications and running the entire tendering process. The latter included assessing contractors, designing and making calculations for the buildings, budgeting for the whole plant, and managing the construction activities.

After the construction works had been completed, VIRO performed the finishing works and got the manufacturing plant up and running according to specifications with an initial manufacturing capacity of 80,000 tons.
