VIRO takes over System Architecture, Software & Control business unit from Imotec; Imotec will continue as a maritime company.
VIRO has recently taken over the System Architecture, Software & Control business unit from the IMOTEC company in Enschede. Under the management of Theo de Vries, the System Architecture, Software & Control business unit develops technology and high-end software for controlling machines, devices, and instruments and focuses on the automated activation, measurement, control, and operation of mechatronic systems within the industrial sector. In addition to his responsibilities for this unit, Theo de Vries also works as a senior lecturer for the Robotics and Mechatronics group at the University of Twente.
VIRO, with its head office in Hengelo and a total of 600 employees and ten branches in Europe, has specialized in the engineering and management of electrical and mechanical engineering projects within the industrial sector for many years. Thanks to this takeover, VIRO expands its service portfolio with high-end software engineering in the field of measurement and control technology. VIRO will be able to provide a better service to its industrial automation customers in particular who often request solutions that effectively combine these specific disciplines. The integration of IMOTEC’s system architects not only means an expansion, but also an intensification, of VIRO’s services. By designing the mechanical construction and corresponding control system at the same time, the integrated end result will display superior properties yet be more affordable and also more flexible.
IMOTEC will continue its operations as a maritime company. The takeover by VIRO is in keeping with IMOTEC’s strategic decision to concentrate on its activities for the maritime and offshore sector. Jan Peters, the Director of IMOTEC, explains, ‘We are successful in this sector because our products and services help our customers to increase their productivity, system availability, and safety. In future, we will continue to be able to offer the best and most innovative solutions in the market, nationally and internationally, because we will continue to invest in product development in close cooperation with VIRO.’
